Siemens Automation Parts, New Zealand

RFQ / Siemens

Obsolete, surplus and current production. Send us the article number and we will tell you what we can do.

We supply Siemens automation hardware to plants, panel builders and maintenance teams across New Zealand. That covers the ranges Siemens no longer makes, the ranges still in production, and everything in between.

Most enquiries we get start the same way. A module has failed, the line is down, and the article number on the front of it has been discontinued for years. That is the work we are set up for. We hold stock of legacy Siemens hardware, we know where the rest of it is, and we can usually tell you the same day whether we can get it and what it will cost.

We also supply current production lines as a distributor, so if you are running S7-1200 or S7-1500 and want a price on new hardware delivered locally, that is a normal enquiry too.

What we do

Supply legacy and obsolete Siemens hardware. S5, S7-300, S7-400, the older ET 200 stations, COROS and legacy HMI panels, MICROMASTER and MASTERDRIVES. New old stock, surplus and tested used, depending on what exists.

Supply current production. S7-1200, S7-1500, ET 200SP, Comfort Panels, SINAMICS and SITOP, quoted with a delivered lead time to your site.

Buy your decommissioned equipment. If you are stripping a line or replacing a control system, we will take the old hardware. That saves you a disposal cost and puts working parts back into service somewhere else.

That combination matters if you are part way through a migration. You need the old system running until the new one is commissioned, you need the new hardware, and you need the old racks gone afterwards. We can handle all three.

How to read a Siemens article number

Siemens calls it an MLFB. It looks like a jumble but the front of it tells you most of what you need.

Example: 6ES7 315-2EH14-0AB0

The first four characters identify the product area:

Starts with Product area
6ES5 SIMATIC S5
6ES7 SIMATIC S7, ET 200 and related I/O
6AG1 SIPLUS, extended environmental range
6AV3, 6AV6 Legacy operator and touch panels
6AV2 Current Basic, Comfort and Unified panels
6AV7 Industrial PCs and panel PCs
6SL3 SINAMICS drives
6SE6, 6SE7 MICROMASTER and MASTERDRIVES
6RA SIMOREG DC drives
6EP SITOP power supplies
6GK Industrial networking and communication
6ED LOGO!
3RT, 3RU, 3RB, 3UF, 3RV Industrial controls and switchgear

The digits after that identify the module family. In our example, 315 is an S7-300 CPU, specifically a CPU 315.

The characters at the end are the variant and version. Two modules that look identical can differ only in those last few characters, and they are not always interchangeable. It is worth reading the number off the module itself rather than off the drawing, because drawings go out of date and modules get swapped.

If the label is unreadable, send us a photo of the module. We can usually identify it.

What discontinued actually means

Siemens publishes a discontinuation notice when a range goes out of production, and then supports it for a defined spare parts period before that ends too. Once it does, there is no new supply through official channels.

That does not mean the hardware is unobtainable. It means the supply moves to the secondary market: unused stock that never got installed, surplus from decommissioned plant, and tested used modules. That is the market we work in.

It also means the answer to "can I still get one" is almost always yes, but the price and the lead time depend entirely on what is out there that week. Which is why we quote rather than list a price.

Why buy from an independent supplier

For discontinued hardware there is no alternative, because authorised channels no longer carry it.

For current hardware the reasons are more ordinary. We are local, we quote quickly, and we will handle a mixed order that contains both a current module and a twenty year old one, which is a common situation in a plant that has been extended over time and awkward to place with a channel that only carries one or the other.

We are not an authorised Siemens distributor. We are an independent supplier, which is what lets us handle the obsolete side at all.

Common questions

Can you get a part that is not listed on your site?
Usually. The site shows what we hold, not what we can source. Send the article number.

Do you supply used equipment?
Yes, where new is not available. We say clearly what condition each item is in, and used items are tested before they ship.

What is the lead time?
Ex stock items ship the next working day within New Zealand. Sourced items depend on where they are. We give you a firm lead time with the quote, not after you have ordered.

Do you quote in NZD?
Yes, in NZD including GST for New Zealand customers.

Can you help identify a part from a photo?
Yes. Send a photo of the module and the rating label.

Do you buy old Siemens equipment?
Yes. See our Sell To Us page.
