If your MICROMASTER has failed and you are deciding whether to replace like for like or move on, the SINAMICS G120 is where Siemens went next. We quote it as a distributor with a delivered lead time and can supply both at once for a staged changeover.
Read this before you order a G120
This is the single biggest source of wrong orders.
A G120 is not one part. It is two. A Power Module and a Control Unit, ordered separately and clipped together. Neither works alone.

The exception is the G120C, the all-in-one compact version with power and control in one housing and one article number.

The letter near the end gives the filter. U is unfiltered, A is integrated Class A filter. So 6SL3210-1PE22-7UL0 is unfiltered and 6SL3210-1PE22-7AL0 is the filtered version of the same rating.

Push-through versions
The 6SL3211 prefix is the push-through mounting variant, where the heatsink sits outside the cabinet.

Push-through and IP20 are not interchangeable. Different mounting, different panel cutout. One digit apart in the number.
PM250 Power Modules, regenerative
The PM250 feeds braking energy back to the supply rather than burning it in a resistor.

PM240 and PM240-2 are not interchangeable. Different dimensions and a different connection system. If you are replacing a failed PM240 and want a drop-in, you need another PM240.
The firmware trap on the big frames
Worth knowing before you order.
PM240-2 Power Modules in frame sizes FSD and FSE require a Control Unit with firmware version 4.7 HF8 or higher. An older Control Unit will not run them.
Most PM240-2 modules work with Control Units from firmware 4.4 upward, so it is specifically the larger frames that catch people. If you are buying a used Control Unit to pair with a new FSD or FSE Power Module, check the firmware first.

The CU240E-2 family also comes in DP and F variants. The F versions add SS1, SLS, SSM and SDI safety functions and up to 3 F-DI. If your application has a safety requirement, that lives in the Control Unit, not the Power Module.

A line reactor tip that saves money
Siemens notes that on frame sizes FSA to FSC, the line reactor fitted to extend service life can be omitted if you select a Power Module one power stage higher instead.
Depending on the ratings involved, stepping up a size can cost less than the reactor and takes up less panel space. Worth costing both ways.
Moving from MICROMASTER to G120
Not a swap. Be clear about what it involves.
Different physical size and mounting. Panel cutouts and DIN rail positions will not match.
Different parameter set. MICROMASTER parameters do not transfer. The drive is commissioned fresh.
Different control terminals. Wiring has to be reworked.
Different fieldbus module. A MICROMASTER PROFIBUS module does not fit a G120. The fieldbus is built into the Control Unit.
So if a line is down tonight, a used or surplus MICROMASTER 440 of the same article number gets you running faster and cheaper. Migrate when you have a planned outage, not during a breakdown.
When you do migrate, we can supply the new G120s, keep the remaining MICROMASTERs running through the changeover with surplus spares, and take the decommissioned drives away.

For a new drive, tell us the motor kW, supply voltage, whether you need a fieldbus and which one, and whether there is a safety function. We will configure the Power Module and Control Unit and quote it as a complete drive.
For a replacement, send the article numbers off both the Power Module and the Control Unit, and tell us the Control Unit firmware version if you know it. Quotes in NZD including GST.
