Siemens ET 200SP and ET 200MP Distributed I/O
Siemens / ET 200SP and ET 200MP
Every BaseUnit article number by BU type, plus interface modules, I/O and the three parts people forget. Current production.
ET 200SP is the current Siemens distributed I/O system and the successor to ET 200S. ET 200MP is the larger sibling. Both are in production, so these are supply jobs quoted with a delivered lead time.
An ET 200SP station is three parts, not one
The most common ordering mistake on the platform.
| Part | Article number | Why you need it |
|---|---|---|
| Interface module | 6ES7155-6AU01-0BN0 and similar | The head of the station |
| Server module | 6ES7193-6PA00-0AA0 | Terminates the station. Goes in the slot after the last I/O module. Not optional |
| BusAdapter | 6ES7193-6AR00-0AA0 for BA 2xRJ45 | The physical PROFINET connection. Sold separately |
Without the server module the station will not run. Without a BusAdapter there is nowhere to plug the network in, because the interface module has no fixed connector.

All support up to 32 I/O modules and 16 ET 200AL modules.
There is no power module. The BaseUnit does that job.
If you are used to ET 200S, this is the change that catches people out.
In an ET 200S station you inserted a PM-E power module such as 6ES7138-4CA01-0AA0 to inject 24 V load voltage. ET 200SP removes that module entirely. The BaseUnit carries the terminals that connect L+ and M to the backplane busbars.
So there is no ET 200SP power module to order. What you order instead is the right BaseUnit.
BaseUnits
The naming tells you what you are getting. BU15-P16+A0+2B reads as 15 mm wide, 16 push-in terminals, no AUX terminals, and the 2B terminal arrangement. An A10 in place of A0 means 10 AUX terminals.
The critical distinction: a BaseUnit that opens a new load group brings 24 V into the station from an external supply. One that continues the group takes L+ and M from the BaseUnit to its left. You need a new-group BaseUnit at the first slot after the interface module and wherever you want a new potential group.

Colour codes
BaseUnits take colour-coded labels which identify the module fitted. P16 positions take CC00 to CC05, A10 positions take CC71 to CC73, P12 takes CC41, A4 takes CC81 to CC83.
Every ET 200SP I/O module is specified to fit a particular BU type, A0, A1, B0 and so on. A module will not simply sit on any BaseUnit. Tell us which modules you are fitting and we will match them.

Two things to check before you order
The interface module suffix determines the firmware
The -0BN0 style suffix carries the firmware load. Confirm your TIA Portal version supports the exact article number. Older V13 and V14 installations need a hardware support package to recognise some IM 155-6 variants.
Single versus multi hot swap
If you drag more than one I/O module, or the server module, out of a station that only supports single hot swap, the node stops and every I/O module goes to substitute value behaviour. Worth knowing before someone does maintenance on a running line.
ET 200MP uses S7-1500 modules
An ET 200MP station is an IM 155-5 interface module plus ordinary S7-1500 signal modules. If you are chasing an I/O module for an ET 200MP rack, you are looking for an S7-1500 part.
See the S7-1500 page for SM 521, SM 522, SM 531 and SM 532, and for the BA, ST and HF feature level explanation, which applies here too. Only the interface module is ET 200MP specific.
The ET 200 family
| System | Uses | Status |
|---|---|---|
| ET 200M | IM 153 plus S7-300 modules | Discontinued |
| ET 200S | IM 151 plus its own module range | Discontinued |
| ET 200SP | IM 155-6 plus its own range on BaseUnits | Current |
| ET 200MP | IM 155-5 plus S7-1500 modules | Current |
If you are replacing an ET 200S station with ET 200SP, none of the modules or terminal modules carry over. It is a new station, not an upgrade.
Send us your requirement
For a new station, send the I/O module list and tell us where your load voltage groups need to start. We will specify the interface module, BaseUnits, server module and BusAdapter as a complete station.
For a replacement part, send the article number. Quotes in NZD including GST.
