Mitsubishi GOT Graphic Operation Terminals

Mitsubishi / GOT graphic operation terminals

The last letter is the power supply. GT2510-VTBA is AC and GT2510-VTBD is DC, and everything else in the code is identical.

GOT terminals are on most Mitsubishi-controlled machinery in New Zealand. GOT2000 is current, GOT1000 still widespread.

Reading a GOT2000 model code

Take GT2510-VTBA. Every character does a job.

Part Meaning
GT25 Model tier
10 Screen size. 10.4 inch
V Resolution. VGA, 640 x 480
T TFT display
B Black model
A AC power supply

The resolution letter

Letter Resolution Example
X XGA, 1024 x 768 GT2715-XTBA
S SVGA, 800 x 600 GT2712-STBA, GT2512-STBA
V VGA, 640 x 480 GT2510-VTBA, GT2508-VTBA
W WVGA, 800 x 480 GT2507-WTBD, GT2107-WTBD
WX WXGA, 1280 x 800 GT2510-WXTBD

All GOT2000 models display 65,536 colours.

The last letter is the supply

Letter Supply
A AC
D DC

GT2510-VTBA and GT2510-VTBD are the same terminal on different supplies. One character, and the wrong one does not power up.

Note that the smaller and wide-format models are often DC only. A GT2107 or GT2507 has no AC option.

Black and white models

GT2510-VTWA is the white model and GT2510-VTBA is the black one.

Cosmetic on most machines, and worth matching if a panel has a set of them.

The model tiers

Tier Positioning Interfaces
GT27 Top. Multi-touch, video input, SD card Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422/485, Bus, CC-Link, MELSECNET, CC-Link IE Controller and Field
GT25 High performance mid-range Ethernet, two ports, RS-232, RS-422/485, CC-Link IE Field Basic, sound output
GT23 Cost performance Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422/485, CC-Link IE Field Basic
GT21 Entry Varies by model

The tier decides what the terminal can talk to, and that is usually why a particular one was specified.

A GT27 has bus and MELSECNET connectivity that a GT25 does not. If the terminal sits on the PLC bus rather than on Ethernet, a lower tier is not a substitute.

Mitsubishi notes that on GT21, supported interfaces vary depending on the model. Check the specific unit rather than the tier.

The GT25 sub-variants

Variant Notes
GT25 Wide GT2512-WX, GT2510-WX, GT2507-W
GT25 Rugged GT2507T-W
GT25 Open frame F in the code. GT2512F-STNA, GT2510F-VTND, GT2508F-VTNA
GT25HS Handheld

The F is open frame, and it changes the IP rating

Open frame models reach IP67F water and dust protection.

They are built to be mounted into a customer enclosure rather than a standard panel cutout, so the mechanical fit is different from a standard model of the same screen size.

A GT2510F is not a drop-in for a GT2510. Check for the F.

The battery is a maintenance item

The most common avoidable GOT problem.

The GT11-50BAT backs up:

What the battery holds
SRAM data
Clock data
System status log

It fits GT27, GT25, GT23 and GT21. The older GOT1000 generation uses the GT15-BAT.

What a dead battery looks like

The clock resets, logged data disappears, and anything held in SRAM is lost on power down.

On a machine where the terminal holds recipe data or production logs, that is a real loss and it looks like a terminal fault.

It is a consumable. If a GOT has started losing its clock, order the battery before anything else.

One exception worth knowing: the GT2103-P does not have a built-in battery.

The screen project is not in the terminal you buy

The same point as every HMI on this site, and it matters as much here.

A replacement GOT arrives blank. The screens, tag mapping, alarm lists and recipes were developed in GT Designer3 and downloaded.

Software Covers
GT Designer3 (GOT2000) GOT2000 series
GT Designer3 (GOT1000) GOT1000 series
GT Works3 The suite containing both

These are separate versions within the same suite. A GOT1000 project does not open in the GOT2000 tool.

So find the project file before the terminal fails. A site with GOT terminals and no project files has a much bigger problem than a broken screen.

Backup and restoration

GOT2000 includes a backup and restoration function, and the terminals take SD cards and USB memory.

So the project can be backed up from the terminal itself, without the original design software.

That is worth doing on every GOT on a site. An SD card in a drawer turns a terminal replacement into a ten minute job.

Compatible cards include the NZ1MEM range from 2 GB to 16 GB.

The FA transparent function

Worth knowing because it saves opening a panel.

The transparent function lets you program the PLC through the GOT. Connect a laptop to the terminal and reach the controller behind it.

On a machine where the PLC is buried in a cabinet and the terminal is on the front, that is the difference between a five minute change and a shutdown.

Protective sheets are separate parts

And usually the cheaper fix.

A scratched or worn protective sheet is not a terminal fault. Mitsubishi supplies them per model and screen size, in codes such as GT27-15PSGC, GT25-10PSGC, GT25-08PSGC and GT21-07WPSGC.

Suffix pattern Notes
PSGC One sheet type
PSCC Another sheet type
-UC Further variant

Sheets are model and size specific. Send us the terminal model and we will match it.

On a machine where the operator touches the same three buttons all shift, a sheet every year or two is cheaper than a touchscreen.

Accessories are tier-specific

Worth knowing before ordering an option unit.

Mitsubishi codes options by which tier they suit:

Option prefix Fits
GT27- GT27 only
GT25- GT27 and GT25
GT23- GT23 only
GT21- GT21 only

So a GT25 accessory fits a GT27, but not the other way round. The numbering tells you.

Cables to non-Mitsubishi PLCs

Useful to know these exist.

The GT09 cable range connects GOT terminals to third-party controllers, in the form GT09-C followed by length and manufacturer codes.

So a GOT can front a non-Mitsubishi PLC, and if you have inherited such a machine the cable is a specific part rather than a generic serial lead.

Tell us what the terminal connects to and we will identify it.

GOT1000 and older

Series Status
GOT2000 Current. GT27, GT25, GT23, GT21
GOT1000 Superseded. GT16, GT15, GT14, GT12, GT11, GT10
GOT-A900, GOT-F900 Older still

Some GOT2000 models are themselves discontinued, including the GT2310 and GT2308.

A like-for-like GOT1000 keeps the existing project running as it is. Moving to GOT2000 means converting the project and usually adjusting the panel cutout.

We supply both. Tell us which you want and we will price them side by side.

What to send us

The full model code. Every character matters, particularly the last one.

AC or DC, if the label has faded.

Whether it is an open frame model. Look for the F.

What the terminal connects to, and how. Ethernet, serial, or the PLC bus.

Whether you have the project file or a backup.

Whether the fault is the screen, the sheet or the battery. All three are separately available.

Before ordering a replacement terminal

Check the battery if the clock resets or logged data disappears.

Check the protective sheet if the touch response has gone patchy in the spots people use most.

Back up the project to SD while the terminal still works.

Check the backlight if the screen is dim rather than dead. On older units that can be a separate part.

What we can supply

Current production. GT27, GT25, GT23 and GT21 across sizes and supplies, plus batteries, SD cards, protective sheets, option units and GT09 cables. Quoted with a delivered lead time.

Discontinued. GOT1000 GT16, GT15, GT11 and GT10, GOT-A900 and GOT-F900, and the discontinued GOT2000 models. Surplus and tested used, which keeps an existing project and panel cutout as they are.

Batteries and sheets separately. Usually the actual fault.

We buy Mitsubishi GOT

GOT terminals hold real value, particularly GOT1000 units that let a plant avoid converting a project and recutting a panel.

If you are stripping a machine, a working terminal is worth considerably more than scrap. See Sell To Us.
