Omron CQM1, C200H and Legacy PLC Parts
Omron / CQM1, C200H and legacy platforms
Long discontinued, still running plant. Two different architectures, and the backplane decode that tells you what you need.
CQM1, CQM1H and the C200H family were the Omron workhorses through the 1990s and into the 2000s. A lot of New Zealand food processing, packaging and general manufacturing still runs them.
There is no official supply. What exists is surplus from decommissioned plant, unused stock and tested used modules. That is the market we work in.
The two architectures are completely different
Work this out first, because it changes what you need to order.
| Platform | Assembly |
|---|---|
| CQM1 and CQM1H | No backplane. Modules assemble with connectors on their sides and clip together |
| C200H family | Backplane based. Modules mount into a rack that is a separate part |
So a CQM1H parts list has no rack in it, and a C200H list must have one. An end cover is provided with the CQM1H CPU block.
The CQM1H module count limit
Omron states that for applications requiring 11 to 16 I/O modules you must use I/O Expansion and Control Interface adapters.
Up to 10 modules the CPU block handles it directly. Beyond that, the adapters are required parts, not optional ones. If you are extending a CQM1H station past 10 modules, budget for them.
C200H backplanes decode by slot count
Same logic as the CS1 series.
| Prefix | Type |
|---|---|
| BC | CPU backplane, takes the CPU |
| BI | Expansion backplane, I/O only |
The digits give the slot count.
| CPU backplanes | Expansion backplanes | Slots |
|---|---|---|
| C200H-BC031, C200HW-BC031 | C200HW-BI031 | 3 |
| C200H-BC051, C200HW-BC051 | C200HW-BI051 | 5 |
| C200H-BC081, C200HW-BC081 | C200HW-BI081 | 8 |
| C200H-BC101, C200HW-BC101 | C200HW-BI101 | 10 |
Versions exist with -V1 and -V2 suffixes. Send us the full number.
CQM1 and CQM1H CPUs
| Model | Notes |
|---|---|
| CQM1-CPU11, CPU21 | Base CPUs |
| CQM1-CPU41, CPU41-EV1, CPU41-V1 | With communications |
| CQM1-CPU42, CPU43, CPU43-V1, CPU44, CPU45 | Higher function |
| CQM1H-CPU11, CPU21 | CQM1H base |
| CQM1H-CPU51, CPU61 | Position and motion control, extra analog and serial at the CPU |
The CQM1H-CPU51 and CPU61 are the ones with built-in motion. Omron describes them as offering space-saving position and motion control plus additional analog and serial communications capability at the CPU itself. Replacing one with a CPU11 loses that.
CQM1H inner boards
| Model | Function |
|---|---|
| CQM1H-PLB21 | Pulse I/O board |
| CQM1H-CLK21 | Controller Link board |
| CQM1H-SCB41 | Serial communications board |
| CQM1H-MAB42 | Analog setting board |
| CQM1H-ME16K, ME16R | Memory cassettes |
| CQM1H-II101 | I/O interface unit |
| CQM1H-TER01 | Terminator |
| CQM1H-PRO01-E | Programming console |
| CQM1H-BAT7, CQM1-BA7 | Battery |
Inner boards fit inside the CPU rather than taking a module slot. If you are replacing a CPU, check whether it has one fitted, because it will not come with the replacement.
CQM1 I/O modules
| Model | Type |
|---|---|
| CQM1-ID111, ID112, ID211, ID212, ID213 | DC input |
| CQM1-IA121, IA221 | AC input |
| CQM1-OC221, OC222, OC224 | Relay output |
| CQM1-OD211, OD212, OD213, OD214, OD215, OD216 | Transistor output |
| CQM1-OA221 | Triac output |
| CQM1-AD041, AD042 | Analog input |
| CQM1-DA021, DA022 | Analog output |
| CQM1-TC001, TC002, TC101, TC204 | Temperature control |

| CQM1-LK501 | Host link |
| CQM1-SRM21 | CompoBus/S master |
| CQM1-ARM21 | Module |
| CQM1-B7A02, B7A03, B7A12, B7A13, B7A21 | B7A interface |
CQM1 power supplies and accessories
| Model | Function |
|---|---|
| CQM1-PA203, PA206, PA216 | AC power supply |
| CQM1-PD026 | DC power supply |
| CQM1-ME04K, ME08K, ME04R, ME08R | Memory cassettes |
| CQM1-CIF02 | Programming cable |
| CQM1-PR001 | Programming console |
Memory cassettes back up the program in the CPU. On these platforms the program lives in battery-backed RAM. If nobody knows when the battery was last changed, act on that while the plant is running.
And the question that follows: do you have a current backup of the program? For a lot of CQM1 and C200H sites the honest answer is no, and that turns a battery failure into a much bigger problem than a module failure.
C200H CPU generations
Four generations, increasing in capability. All use the same backplanes and most of the same I/O.
| Generation | CPUs |
|---|---|
| C200H | C200H-CPU01, CPU02, CPU03, CPU11, CPU21, CPU31 |
| C200HS | C200HS-CPU01, CPU21, CPU31 |
| C200HE | C200HE-CPU11, CPU32, CPU42 |
| C200HG | C200HG-CPU33, CPU43, CPU53, CPU63 |
| C200HX | C200HX-CPU34, CPU44, CPU54, CPU64, CPU65, CPU85 |
E, G and X are capability tiers, not variants. C200HE is the entry level, C200HG mid range and C200HX the highest. A C200HE-CPU42 is not a substitute for a C200HG-CPU43.
Suffixes -E, -Z and -ZE appear on many of these and denote versions. Read the whole number.
C200H power supplies
| Model | Notes |
|---|---|
| C200H-PS221 | Power supply |
| C200HW-PA204 | AC input |
| C200HW-PA204S | AC input, with service supply |
| C200HW-PA204R | AC input, with RUN output |
| C200HW-PA209R | AC input, higher capacity, RUN output |
| C200HW-PD024 | DC input |
The R and S suffixes are not cosmetic. R adds a RUN output contact; S adds a service power supply. If your panel uses either, the plain PA204 will leave a function missing.

What usually fails
Output modules before input modules. Relay contacts wear on operation count, and triac outputs fail on inductive loads without suppression.
Power supplies. Electrolytic capacitors dry out. A rack that resets intermittently or will not start on a cold morning is often the supply rather than the CPU.
The battery. Flat battery, program gone. This is the one to act on before it happens.
Hold spares while they exist
Secondary market supply of a discontinued platform does not improve over time. It thins out and gets dearer as the installed base shrinks and the surplus gets consumed.
A spare CPU, a spare power supply and one of each I/O card you run is a modest amount of money against an unplanned outage on a platform nobody makes any more.
What we can supply
CQM1, CQM1H, C200H, C200HS, C200HE, C200HG and C200HX CPUs, I/O modules, backplanes, power supplies, memory cassettes, inner boards, programming consoles and cables. Surplus and tested used, since there is no new supply.
The programming gear especially. If you have inherited a CQM1 or C200H system with no way to connect to it, tell us what you intend to program from and we will sort the cable and console.
We buy CQM1 and C200H
If you are migrating off these platforms, do not scrap the old hardware. Individual modules are worth real money to the plants still running them, and the racks, cables and programming gear are worth having too. See Sell To Us.
