RFQ / Bosch Rexroth, Rexroth and Indramat
If your drive says Indramat, it is a Rexroth drive. The badge went Indramat, then Rexroth Indramat, then Bosch Rexroth, and the part numbers came through unchanged. On the hydraulic side the type code is the specification, and a single letter in it decides what your cylinder does when the power goes off.
Rexroth is on New Zealand presses, injection moulding, forestry, mobile plant and heavy machinery. Much of the electric drive side is obsolete and still working, and the hydraulic side is a live consumable business.

A DDS drive badged Indramat and one badged Rexroth Indramat are the same product. Send the type code and the badge does not matter.
This is the same situation as Emerson on a Control Techniques drive, which is on our Control Techniques page. Industrial brands change hands and the part numbers usually survive.
One thing that did move
The Rexroth pneumatics business became Aventics and is now part of Emerson. So a Rexroth-badged pneumatic valve is a different lineage from a Rexroth hydraulic valve.
We supply both. Tell us whether the part is hydraulic or pneumatic if the label is ambiguous, because it changes where we source it.

DDS, TDM and KDS are long obsolete and still running presses and machine tools here. Those are the ones we are asked for most on the electric side, and like any servo product the drive, the motor and the feedback have to agree.
Older Indramat drives carry a personality or programming module holding the firmware and parameters for that axis. As on every platform, that small removable part matters more than it looks. Take it out before the drive leaves the site.

The hydraulic type code is the specification

The spool symbol is the letter that decides machine behaviour, and it gets its own section on the hydraulic valves page because substituting it is a safety decision rather than a preference.
NG sizes mean valves interchange between brands
Genuinely useful, and it widens what we can offer you.
Hydraulic directional valve mounting faces are standardised. The bolt pattern, the port positions and the dimensions for a given size are common across manufacturers.

So a valve from another manufacturer will physically bolt onto the same manifold. That matters when a Rexroth part has a long lead time and the machine is down.
What is not standardised is the spool, the flow rating, the response and the electrical connection. So an equivalent valve is a real option and it is not automatically a drop-in.
We will offer an interchange where it is genuinely suitable, and tell you what differs. On a proportional or servo valve, or anything safety related, we will normally recommend staying with the original.
Contamination is the biggest issue in hydraulics
Worth stating plainly, because it explains most repeat failures.
The majority of hydraulic component failures are caused by dirty oil. Not wear, not age, and not the component.

Proportional and servo valves need cleaner oil than ordinary directional valves. Fitting one into a system that was only ever kept clean enough for on-off valves will destroy it, and it will look like a faulty valve.
Three checks worth making before ordering a replacement valve:
When was the filter element last changed, and is the indicator in the red.
Is there a breather on the tank, and is it doing anything.
Has anyone had an oil sample tested. A cleanliness result costs very little against a proportional valve.
If a machine eats one particular valve, the answer is upstream of the valve. Same pattern as air quality in pneumatics and panel temperature in electronics.
Seals have to suit the fluid
Frequently missed, and it produces a failure weeks later.

The seal specification is in the type code. So a valve ordered on the model number alone can arrive with seals that will not survive the fluid, and the failure comes months later as a leak or a swollen seal.
If the machine runs anything other than ordinary mineral oil, tell us the fluid. It is one line in an email and it prevents a repeat job.
Pumps: the case drain and the control

A pump that has become noisy is often cavitating rather than worn. Restricted suction strainer, low oil level, a partly closed suction valve or air being drawn in. Replacing the pump without fixing that destroys the new one too.
So on a noisy pump, check the suction side and the oil level before ordering. It is free and it is frequently the answer.

Can you get a part that is not listed on your site?
Usually. The site shows what we hold, not what we can source.
My drive says Indramat. Is that Rexroth?
Yes. Same product, earlier badge. Send the type code.
Can I fit another brand's valve?
Mechanically, often yes, because the NG mounting is standardised. The spool, flow rating and connection still have to match.
Why does the same valve keep failing?
Almost always oil cleanliness. Check the filter, the breather and get an oil sample tested.
My pump has got noisy.
Suspect cavitation before wear. Check the suction line, strainer and oil level.
Do I need the whole valve?
Often not. Solenoid coils are separate parts and they are a fraction of the price.
Do you supply used equipment?
On electric drives yes, tested before shipping. On hydraulics we generally supply new, because seals and internal clearances are wear items.
What is the lead time?
